Week of Sept. 14

Friday
Caught ‘Ya #21:

Students took vocab quiz #2 (including dictation) and roots test mot, mov, mob. We graded parts of Parts of Speech and Literary Elements Quiz #1.
Homework: Review and read.


Thursday

harold mesmerized by the site starred at classy cassandra for a full minute before he sat down; he was smitten
Vocab: mesmerized, smmitten
Reviewed this week's root words. Read and discussed part of Frank O'Connor's short story: First Confession.
Homework: Roots quiz on Friday will incorporate dictation.



Wednesday
Early Release - special schedule.
Took and graded spelling test; took vocab/parts of speech/literary elements quiz.
Homework: Roots quiz on Friday will incorporate dictation.


Tuesday
Caught ‘Ya #18:
sitting their at the desk in front of him reading the book war and peace was a apparition of beauty that affected his ability to move

Students responded to journal prompt #16, dealing with characterization, in their composition books. We revisited the worksheet on Characterization from Monday and finalized in class - due tomorrow.
Handed out information on the IB program at Barry Goldwater.

We did a worksheet on Characterization - the descriptive paragraph will be finalized in class tomorrow (Jane Austen pairs).
