Week of Jan. 4

Friday
Students took this week's Roots Quiz (cap) and then worked on a characterization exercise, which was turned in at the end of the period.
Homework:
Study vocab, roots, parts of speech, etc.



Thursday
Finished reading Stave Two and worked with partner on Stave Two Review questions. These were turned in at the end of the period.
Homework:
Study vocab, roots, parts of speech, etc.



Wednesday
Handed out A Christmas Carol Study Guide. You will need to know the answers to these questions for a test on the novel (after we've finished reading).
Continued reading A Christmas Carol, picking up with Stave 2. We will finish the section in class tomorrow.

Tuesday
Stave One Vocabulary quiz - graded and collected.
We continued with the Word Chop activity from yesterday (graded and collected) - it went longer than expected and so we did not get to read the novel today. Tomorrow for sure!

Monday
Writing Prompt (to be completed in composition notebooks): In 1789, the first U.S. Presidential election was held. If you were running for President at that time, on what issue(s) would you have based your campaign?
Gap-fill exercise on A Christmas Carol.
New roots word list - cap. Quiz Friday.
Stave One Vocabulary review - graded and collected.
We read a w/s on The Worth of Trivia (Jan. 4 is Trivia Day), then answered comprehension questions on the piece. This was graded and collected.
We began the Word Chop w/s, related to the Trivia article, and will finish in class tomorrow.

Study vocab, roots, parts of speech, etc. Roots quiz (including parts of speech, etc.) on Friday. Tomorrow we continue with the story.
