Students set up FreeRice accounts and joined the class group in preparation for our collaboration with our pen-pal class.

Be sure to finish the first course (MS Writing Course 1: Prewriting) so we can begin the next one on Monday.
Thursday
We missed class (and hence the DRA) due to the bus evacuation drill. Some students were able to take it during my 4th period. Tomorrow is the last day it is available online, so be sure to take it on some computer at school.
Homework:
Read towards your goal or just for the sake of reading.

We watched the final "Best Commander" and Figurative Language presentations.

District Reading Assessment tomorrow. Review Lit. Terms.

Students took the STAR test and then typed their final drafts of the process essay.
Homework:
Study for Roots test (pel, puls).
Tomorrow we will have the final "Best Commander" presentations.
Process essay due tomorrow.

I collected the webbing from Practice 4.
Handout: How to write instructions and Rubric for Process Essay.
Students chose one of two prompts and began writing a process essay, beginning with Pre-writing and Rough Draft. Tomorrow they will type their final after the STAR test.
Homework:
Work on editing and revising your rough draft.
