Wednesday and Thursday
End-of-year activities. Thursday is early release.

Tuesday
Field Day and Water Day for 7th and 8th graders.



Monday
Students added their survival project to the poster.
Homework:
None

Week of May 17

Friday
Students had time in the computer lab to type up their survival project and take AR tests.
Homework:
Survival project due Monday.



Thursday
Students shared and turned in the modern-day Cinder Tale (including 5 common ingredients and 2 themes). We then discussed the survival project, and had time for reading and AR tests.
Homework:
AR comprehension and points due tomorrow.
Tomorrow we will have time in the lab to work on the survival project.



Wednesday
Students took the online portion of the Adv. Language Arts Final Assessment.
Afterwards, there was time to work on their original, modern-day Cinder Tale.
Homework:
Tales will be presented on Thursday. Remember to list the common ingredients and themes.



Tuesday
Today we finished the presentations and then brainstormed what characteristics Cinderella tales have in common (5 ingredients and 2 themes from each group). After sharing these out to the class, groups were challenged to create their own Cinderella (or Cinderfella) tale in a modern setting.
Homework:
Tomorrow we take the online portion of the Advanced Language Arts Assessment and work on the Cinderella tales, if time permits. We will present the tales on Thursday.



Monday
Students shared and turned in the double-bubble thinking map of "Yeh-Shen" and "The Twelve Months" as well as their write-ups of the two Cinderella tales.
Homework:
More presentations tomorrow.

Week of May 10

Friday
Students shared their Mythological Barbie products.
Homework:
Cinder Tales are due Monday.



Thursday
7th Grade Field Trip to the Biosphere.



Wednesday
Students took the 7th Grade Advanced Language Arts Final Exit Exam, after which they put the finishing touches to the Mythological Barbie project.
Homework:
Mythological Barbie project presentations will begin right off the bat on Friday.
Cinder Tales Projects are now due Monday.




Tuesday
Final STAR test of the year.
Continued work on the Cinderella project.
Homework:
Mythological Barbie project due tomorrow.



Monday
Handout: Cinder Tales Tasks.
Students worked in groups of two. #3 is to make you more familiar with the characteristics of a Cinder Tale...you will be creating your own next week.
Homework:
Mythological Barbie project due Wed.
We're in the lab tomorrow for our final STAR testing and then to continue with the Cinder project.

Week of May 3

Friday
Read Aschenputtel, beginning on p. 592 of the literature textbook.
Homework:
Answer questions 2-6 on p. 604 (lined sheet of paper; complete sentences; skip a line between answers).



Thursday
Time to work on Barbie project in lab.
Homework:
Work on the Barbie project. Due Wednesday.



Wednesday
Early Release ~ Special Schedule

Homework:
Continue planning for the Barbie project at home.




Tuesday
Collected the questions from yesterday (Literature textbook) and the Bad Hair Day assignment.
Handout: Mythological Barbie assignment (w/ rubric).
In groups of two, students used the Mythology links on my web site to conduct research for the assignment. We will have time in the lab on Thursday; the assignment is due Wed., May 12.
