Week of Jan. 17

Friday
Pen pal letters were due and turned in - two rough drafts and a final. The final needed to be emailed to me.
We began our persuasive techniques project using magazine advertisements. Students had time in class to begin the assignment.
Homework:
There will be time in class to work on the Advertisement Analysis w/s on Monday. All three are due Tuesday. Remember to use a separate sheet of paper for each ad, as we'll be separating them later on.
Note: I only received about half the pen pal letters electronically. These NEED to be emailed to me asap.

Thursday
Students finalized the final drafts of the pop star formal letters and spent time in the lab typing them up before emailing them to me. I collected the rough drafts. Several students shared their letters.
Homework:
Pen Pal letters due tomorrow. Hard copy (printed) and by email to me. Have both rough drafts as well.

In pairs, worked on Task #1 or #2 (formal letter to pop star of band).
Homework:
Work some more on it tonight, if possible; I'll give you a little bit of time to finish the rough draft tomorrow in class, but it will need to be done as we're going to the lab to type up the final draft.

Tuesday
Handout: new roots (fer). Test on Friday.
We went over and I collected the homework.
I handed back RD#2 of the letters and we had some discussion about them. Final draft should be typed, printed out for your portfolio at school, and emailed to me. Keep both rough drafts and rubric.
We finished the Persuasive Techniques packet.
Finally graded the last Roots Quiz (cap, pel, puls).
Homework:
Study roots; final draft due Friday (email and hard copy).
