Friday
No class today due to special schedule.


Thursday
We began our replies to our Irish penpals.
Handout: Rubric for the letter
Letter is to be typed and sent to me as an attachment.
Rough draft is due Monday; I've scheduled us in the lab on Tuesday so we can type up the final.
Homework:
Letter is due to me as an attachment by end of class Tuesday.


Wednesday
No class due to AIMS.


Tuesday
Today's challenge was to add an additional verse at the end of The Highwayman poem describing a ghostly meeting between the highwayman and Bess. Start the verse with a line from the poem such as: “over the cobbles he clattered” or “the wind was a torrent of darkness.” Perhaps write from the point of view of a traveller witnessing the scene. Try to stick the same style, rhythm, and rhyme scheme of the poem as much as possible.
We worked on this for a little while in class.
Homework:
Extra verse is due Monday.


Monday
We went over the Reading Test packet and verified answers.
Students then read and critiqued two sets of AIMS sample writing packets. We discussed good and bad techniques.
Homework:
Get a good night's sleep and have a healthy breakfast.
AIMS Writing is tomorrow.
