Week of March 28

Friday
We shared the limericks and re-worked some that needed tweaking.
After reading the article Why is April called "April?" The answer is a mystery - no fooling!, students were challenged to create a short poem on the information.
Homework:
Type up the limerick and today's poem and send it to me by Monday. (I'd like to post some online).
Study Week 2 words (quiz next week) and Tales, Parts of Speech, vocab, etc.

Thursday
Students took the online Deer Valley Reading Assessment (not for a grade).
They then did AIMS review using links on my Lang. Arts Resources website.
Homework:
Original Limerick (your own creation) due tomorrow.

Wednesday
We reviewed Week 3 Day 2 & 3 w/s.
We practiced some more with stessed syllables, learned about iambic and dactylic feet, and wrote our first Limerick.
Homework:
Week 3 Review quiz tomorrow.
Original Limerick (your own creation) due Friday

Tuesday
We reviewed one of the AIMS test practice question packets from yesterday and discussed the answers.
As part of our poetry unit, we worked on finding the stressed syllables in various words.
Homework:
Week 3 Day 2 and 3
Bring a rough draft of your phone number poem to class tomorrow.

Monday
I collected the Idioms w/s, and we graded the Week 2 vocab quiz.
We did some more AIMS test practice questions and discussed the answers and test-taking skills.
